Little one’s room in color.

I’ve been crazy busy at work lately. I was there at 6:15 am this morning, and I’m really feeling it now! Once January hits, so many people who just got engaged are calling us to begin their wedding planning and venue search process plus we’ve had a strange amount of high profile military events to coordinate lately. Anyhow, that’s my excuse for being a slacker on my blog posts lately. It’s so much easier to blog when I’m on vacation. If that’s not a legit reason to quit my job, then I don’t know what is!

Enough on that, how about a quick update on the little one’s room? Last I posted, this was what the wall looked like…

I wanted to go with the same color in the room, regardless of whether the little one is a boy or girl. I’m not a super girly girl who loves the princess pink {not that I have anything against those who prefer pretty in pink…it’s just not me}. I knew I wanted to have a bold, bright nursery for a girl or a boy. My color them is going to be bright dark blue {which Eugene says is an oxymoron, but it makes sense to me}, white, and orange. I’ll add in some additional colors if we find out it’s a little girl, but probably stick with the three basic colors if it’s a boy.

We wanted a zero VOC paint, and I’ve liked the Olympic paint we’ve used for our kitchen & living room, so we planned to go that route. The nice guy at the Lowes paint desk gave us a coupon and told us we could get the new “One” type of Olympic paint that’s a primer & paint in one for the same price as just the paint. Works for me!

And here’s my trimming…

The open doorway to the left is the spare half bath, which I think will be nice to have in the baby’s room. Oh, and pay no attention to my messy closet {which has since been rearranged and moved}…

And here’s the beautiful new drywall with a coat of “dry wall primer”…

And here it is painted, just missing a baseboard!

I wasn’t totally sure about the color because it’s so rich, but now that I have some furniture and curtains up, I’m really liking it. It’s really cool and calming.

Oh, and p.s., wrapping your paint brushes and rollers in saran wrap is SO helpful. You can store them in the refrigerator for weeks, even months, without them drying out. Saves a heckuva lot of time from washing the brush and rollers between every coat!

Lord willing, we have less than a week until we get to see our little one on another ultrasound, hear the miraculous heartbeat, and find if we’re expecting a “he” or “she.” I’m really looking forward to seeing the little one moving around again! :)

  2. When I was expecting, I did the baby room in primary colors, rather than the "traditional" pink or blue. I loved it and I love the colors you chose. Congrats on the little one!
