Florida vacation–part three.

Rachel & I took the girls to Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens for a mini photo shoot. The lighting was weird so the photos aren’t the best, but the girls are so adorable it makes up for the poor quality pics.

Florida vacation–part two.

We were blessed to get to spend a week in Florida with our friends from college and their one-year-old girl. I blogged a bunch of photos from the first few days of the vacation here.

The girls’ favorite toy was a homemade cardboard “house.” Lots of peek-a-boo & shutting the door on each other…

We got a few more trips to the beach in…including one of JUST me & Rachel – mommies day out! {It was GLORIOUS! Wondrous thing for sure!} On one of the beach trips, both babies really wanted to eat an apple, and we only had one. They were all about sharing this week!

I don’t have much on my “bucket list,” but learning to surf is definitely on there. Rachel let me borrow her surf board and taught me some basics to try to get started. I didn’t realize how much you have to paddle with your arms into the wave to get momentum! I wouldn’t consider it crossed off my list yet since I didn’t get to stand up on the board, but it was really fun to try!

We had to take a picture of the mama’s & babies in our matching rash guard shirts…

One evening we took the girls for a walk to feed some turtles. The little one got to borrow this super sweet tricycle. She was pumped!

Jordyn was pretty excited to go see the turtles too…

Nap time woes.

The little one has always required me to hold/rock/cuddle/pat her to sleep since she was born. We tried numerous ways to get around this, to teach her to fall asleep on her own, but inevitable they always resulted in her crying until she made herself physically sick. The last two weeks, we’ve slowly made progress to where she’s able to fall asleep laying on a pillow next to use, and we then transfer to her crib. Still an ordeal, but better than having to hold her constantly for 45 minutes or so. {Don’t get me wrong, I love my cuddle time with her, but I also want her to learn to sleep without me.}

The other night I even managed to get her to fall asleep on her own in her crib. Albeit, there was lots of rubbing her back and playing with her hair, but nonetheless she went from awake to asleep in her crib! This was definitely a high-five moment for Eugene & me!

However, we’re still fighting the battle. Check out this funny 15 second glimpse of a nap time fail…

I’ve watched it probably 20 times, and I laugh every time! She is something else!

My little fish.

I mentioned in my last post that the little one has gone from being absolutely terrified of swimming and even just getting near water {other than the bath}, to now just happily jumping into the pool with us! She even sat in the sand at the beach while the water splashed on her – big strides! I couldn’t get the Instagram video back {but it’s posted still on Instagram, so feel free to request to follow me}, so I took a little montage to share here…

She was so entertained by placing each pool noodle in & out of the pool. She’s pretty methodical as a one-year-old already. I’m curious to see how this trait emerges as she gets older.

I’m so proud of my little fish!

Florida vacation–part one.

Eugene & I had a great opportunity to finally take a vacation. This is the first real vacation since our honeymoon four years ago, so it was much needed & much appreciated!
This is basically a photo dump from the first few days of our vacation. If you’re not into lots of cute baby pictures, skip this post. Fair warning. ;)
I was nervous about taking the little one {the very active little one} on her first flight, but to my surprise she was fantastic. She was so excited when we first found our seats, and then happily sat on my lap, slept some, played some, and ate some until we arrived to Florida safely…

She even brushed her teeth a little in the airports…what a sight!

When we arrived at our friend’s house, she was a little shy and not quite herself {tired and stomach ache, I think}, but after a day or so she’s really opened up and relaxed.

We’re blessed to be staying with one of Eugene’s best friends from college. He and his wife also have a one-year-old, so it’s been awesome staying with people who are basically walking through the exact same phase of life as we are right now. The girls have had lots of play time together, and they’ve been getting along great!

The little one didn’t sleep great the first night away, and she woke up pretty early, so Eugene & I took her on a walk in her pjs. We happened upon a cute little park/playground…

Later that day, we took advantage of some great weather and took the girls to the beach. This was the little one’s first experience with the beach & she was a fan for sure! She tried to eat some seashells…

The girls stayed occupied playing in the sand & getting really messy…

The little one has always been afraid of pools and swimming, but she’s finally overcome her fear! I have a really cute video on instagram of her jumping in, but it didn’t save to my phone, so I’m not sure how I can get it onto my blog. {Suggestions are welcome!} Here are some pictures of our pool time…

We also walked along the beach/pier last night and enjoyed a fish dinner at a fun outdoor restaurant.
