Another prom.

It’s almost a tradition now…I do Eugene’s sister’s hair & make-up when they have a formal dance. I enjoyed seeing Heidi get all prettied-up for her exciting evening. Isn’t she pretty!

And here’s her hair…

And I would be remiss if I didn't share a photo of her shoes…

Here’s the mandatory sibling shot. {Dillan always makes fun of Eugene for the forced smile, but Dillan is never looking at the camera when I take pictures!}

Thirty-eight weeks.

Just two weeks until the due date – seems almost unbelievable! It’s been mid-nineties this week, so I’ve been feeling a bit hot to say the least. I had to work outside for 13 hours this past Sunday, but God was good and gave me grace through the heat {and lots of cold water bottles.} ;) I also almost got in a car accident on Sunday going to church. Thank the Lord, I was able to swerve just enough to end up in the highway median and avoid the collision. Seriously, I thank the Lord for that!

38 weeks

I’ve had a lot of people tell me I’m “too small” to be due in two weeks. Maybe it’s because I’m six feet tall, but I definitely feel like I’m big enough to deliver soon. I honestly feel like I’m carrying around a bowling ball. The little one moves around all the time, she gets the hiccups every night around 7:30, and every now & then I can get a clear view/feel of an elbow or knee on the side of my belly. Kind of odd, but neat too.

I’m not sure if I’m ready for the hospital yet…I have a few things packed & our “birth plan” ready. I have a feeling I’ll be sending Eugene home at some point to grab more clothes or chap stick. It’s weird, but I really can’t bring myself to actually pack a legit hospital bag. So strange for me, Ms. Planner! Oh well…I’m just excited for the day she decides to come out and meet us. I’m praying hard that all goes well with the birth – no complications, smooth and stress-free for all involved. Wouldn’t that be lovely? :)

We’re getting so close!

Baseball season comes to an end.

Eugene’s baseball team peaked at just the right time this year. They didn’t end up with the best overall record, but they made it further in the tournament than they have in the past 9 years. I’m pretty darn proud of how hard he worked to help these young men…

I remember thinking that once baseball season ended, the little one would be here in about two weeks. It’s crazy how quickly time has passed!

Baby girl DIY headbands.

This weekend I took an hour or so to make the little one some headbands and hair clips. I’m not sure if she’ll have hair as a newborn, or even if she’ll tolerate hair accessories, but I figured it’d be worth a shot. :)

My kitchen counter was a mess for a while…

I made a flower clip out of a scrap from an old formal dress…

I made the headbands 12” up to 14” circumferences.

I like how this one turned out…

And this one needed a model…

So the pup volunteered. Doesn’t he look thrilled?!…

I’m hoping they fit the little one. I can’t wait to see her. :)

Thirty-six weeks.

Can you believe it? I’m already thirty-six weeks along in this pregnancy! I’m less than a month away from the due date, and Eugene & I are starting to get really excited to meet our little girl.

36 weeks

Small details updated – I’ve not been nearly as hungry lately. I still want my lunch early (11:30 when it used to be 1:30), but for the most party I’ve not been starving all the time. I haven’t had many “cravings” or anything that really sounded good to me, other than cold things like popsicles, ice cream, and ice water.

Swelling’s increased some, mainly my ankles in the evening, but nothing too terrible. I had two people at work today tell me I’ve really “popped out,” {not the most flattering comment}, but I agree that my belly has gotten bigger or at least more pronounced in the last week or two.  My stomach is feeling pretty uncomfortable and is sore to the touch. I think it’s because there’s not much padding between me and the baby.

I went to a Jason Gray concert on Sunday. I had a fleece blanket wrapped around my belly {I looked really cool} to muffle the sound, but she still danced like crazy throughout the concert.

I’m feeling nervous about the birth – not necessarily the actual birth, but more so just praying that our little one is all okay, healthy, and without any complications. I am praising God even/especially through these last few weeks as I think back to my miscarriage and the long time of waiting for good news of a pregnancy again. I had at least five beautiful women who shared their fertility challenges with me sometime after my miscarriage post, and this week marks the fifth woman who has told me she has great news of another pregnancy! {Seriously, wow, God!} Five out of five women I’ve been praying that God would bless with a new pregnancy, He did just that. God is so good and prayer is so powerful. It’s all God, and I just praise Him for my little one on the way and for the five others that are too. He is so amazing!

Callin’ it good.

The little one’s room is finally to the point of considering it pretty much “done.” I have a few more little things to add, mainly accessories or extra stuff that would be nice to have but likely won’t make it in time, but for the most part I’m calling it good.

It’s probably best to start with the before & after pictures…

Here’s a bunch more “after” photos to share the end result…

I love the orange & blue bold color scheme. It’s happy and I hope it will be stimulating to the little one’s imagination. :) I’m also really pleased with my DIY mobile. I went back and sewed on a double layer of velum to make it a bit thicker, and each strip has a tendency to curl, but it’s still bright and colorful and different – just what I was hoping for.

IMG_0635

And I also like how the cheap-o redo of the retro 70s light fixture turned out. It’s not classy or sophisticated, but it’s fun, and it goes really well with my button trimmed DIY crib skirt.

The road-kill rescued changing table was a huge inspiration for the room design. Painting it orange was unique, and I really love how it turned out.

IMG_0649

We were given this amazing glider to use in the nursery {huge blessing!}

IMG_0646

It fits just right in the little corner of the room with a crate of children’s books {from my awesome book-themed shower} within arms reach. I hope to build some book shelves, but that’s one of those things that won’t make it high on the priority list right now. ;)

IMG_0628

The added artwork really made a huge difference in the room.

Oh, and this little girl’s got a pretty full closet already too! We are SO blessed by our generous friends and family!

IMG_0656

So there ya have it, our little one’s room…basically all DIY’ed. She’s due in less than a month, and we’re one step closer to being ready to welcome her home. Oh, I can’t wait! :)
