Callin’ it good.

The little one’s room is finally to the point of considering it pretty much “done.” I have a few more little things to add, mainly accessories or extra stuff that would be nice to have but likely won’t make it in time, but for the most part I’m calling it good.

It’s probably best to start with the before & after pictures…

Here’s a bunch more “after” photos to share the end result…

I love the orange & blue bold color scheme. It’s happy and I hope it will be stimulating to the little one’s imagination. :) I’m also really pleased with my DIY mobile. I went back and sewed on a double layer of velum to make it a bit thicker, and each strip has a tendency to curl, but it’s still bright and colorful and different – just what I was hoping for.

And I also like how the cheap-o redo of the retro 70s light fixture turned out. It’s not classy or sophisticated, but it’s fun, and it goes really well with my button trimmed DIY crib skirt.

The road-kill rescued changing table was a huge inspiration for the room design. Painting it orange was unique, and I really love how it turned out.

We were given this amazing glider to use in the nursery {huge blessing!}

It fits just right in the little corner of the room with a crate of children’s books {from my awesome book-themed shower} within arms reach. I hope to build some book shelves, but that’s one of those things that won’t make it high on the priority list right now. ;)

The added artwork really made a huge difference in the room.

And because I couldn’t get a wide enough shot to show the full wall, here’s a combined view…

Oh, and this little girl’s got a pretty full closet already too! We are SO blessed by our generous friends and family!

So there ya have it, our little one’s room…basically all DIY’ed. She’s due in less than a month, and we’re one step closer to being ready to welcome her home. Oh, I can’t wait! :)

  4. Congrats! How much fun will it be to bring your baby home to her beautiful new room. So exciting. It makes me remember when I brought my first baby home. I loved sitting in the nursery and rocking him. Now he's a gigantic 12 year old and he wants me to decorate his room by painting the whole thing black. *sigh* Enjoy this!

  8. Came here from Remodelaholic. Just wanted to say super cute room, and that we are both one the same wavelength - I just turned 36 weeks (though with a boy) and I am using dark blue and orange in my nursery too. Though I'm not as finished with it as you are. Great job! And good luck :)
