Five months.

The little one is five months old this week. Her personality is staying consistent since we first met: happy & easy-going. She’s sleeping through the night {from around 8:30 pm until 6:30 am} about half the time. The other half of the time, she’ll wake up around 3am or 4am, eat, and then sleep until 7:30 or 8 am. No complaints here!

5 months

She loves looking at ceiling lights, especially the button light in her room. She’ll stare at that thing for such a long time. Go figure, she doesn’t even seem notice the massive mobile I made! She sits up, reaches for things, and pulls herself up all on her own. She rolls both ways, and always wants to be where she can see what’s going on – never wants to miss any action. Oh, and she loves her pup. They finally notice each other, and she reaches for him & laughs at him.

She has started to realize she has toes…and that she can reach them.

She is full of smiles and giggles, especially when Eugene or I say hi to her.

She loves the Bible stories we read to her from The Jesus Storybook Bible at bedtime. {We love them too.}

And, yes, we matched at church this Sunday. Polka dot love. {I can’t believe I’m now that mom, but I’m going to embrace it.;)}

I’m loving this age.

Civic duty.

Her daddy’s a government/history teacher, so she wanted to tell him & everyone else that she cast her ballot {aka, watched me vote.}

The little one has experienced her first trip to the voting booths. We’re proud to exercise our civic duty, and so thankful for the freedom our country offers.

Watch and laugh.

The little one had a stuffy nose this week. I captured a little bit of her stuffy snoring after trick or treating. Yes, that whistle is coming from my baby.

And if you like to hear babies laugh, this next video is for you. The little one thought my in-laws dog playing with a blanket was hill-arious. Oh, I love her squeals!

Makes me laugh every time I watch it. :)

Resemblance.

I’ve yet to have anyone tell me that the little one looks like me. Usually, the person is in a state of shock over how much she looks like Eugene. I definitely agree that she resembles her dad –particularly the eyes – but, I think she has a few features of mine. Here’s a picture of Eugene {a little younger than the little one is now}, and me {a few months older}. You be the judge…

Well, at least she’s tall like me! ;)

Chick or treat.

We started our Fall weekend off with some pumpkin carving.

IMG_2556

The little one was fascinated with the stem…

Big cuz joined in on the carving fun…

And the final products…

The next day we enjoyed a Fall Festival at a local church, complete with lamas, bunnies, and more!

IMG_2594

She was so brave to hold the bunny!

IMG_2608

The little one was apparently worn out from the carving party the night before…

Fun games at the festival…

And then the real fun began – trick or treating. Allow me to introduce you to my chicken…

IMG_2629

My sister’s the genius behind the costume selection. We made it out of a few boas, a winter hat with some felt, yellow socks, and some rubber gloves. The bib wasn’t part of outfit plan, but the little one kept trying to eat her feathers. :)

We were given the unofficial “best costume” award by some mom’s walking down the street. Ha!

Of course, big cuz was a chicken too. She has been asking for weeks to be a chicken – so cute!

IMG_2650

Yes, the boas are pink tinted with silver tinsel. Had to add a little bling!

IMG_2654

My little chicken Chicken Little lost her feet about 5 house in; they just kept falling off, so we stashed ‘em in her pumpkin bucket.

What a fun, memory-making weekend!

My own Fall family photos.

I asked my sister-in-law to play photographer for us for 30 minutes before I met the Wilson family for their photo session. I would pose Eugene & the little one, then hand the camera to Heidi with a bit of instruction and let her lose.  And of course, I had to get one of the little one with her helpful Auntie…

Family photos at the park.

It’s been a while since I’ve had the privilege of taking photos for families, but I was asked by a college classmate whom I also worked with at my first job. We met up at a local historical park, and the Fall scenery was just beautiful. The family was full of life and energy, and I truly enjoyed photographing them.

In full disclosure, I always tell people that I’m not a professional…I just enjoy taking pictures for friends. Hopefully the family is pleased with the result!
