18 weeks.

I can’t believe I’m already to 18 weeks. It’s so amazing!

The last few weeks have been a little rough. I look like crap in the photo because it was late after a long day work, before I ate dinner, and I’ve been waking up at 4 am every morning and unable to go back to sleep. I’m not sure why. I’m guessing the baby will wake up at 4 for a feeding, and my body’s just getting prepared, but I really hope my body figures out how to fall back asleep! I will say though, my pregnancy body pillow that I got for Christmas {the Snoogle} is helping a bunch. I’ve had a hard time sleeping since I first got pregnant, but this odd-looking pillow has helped.

I’ve also still been regularly nauseous – not to the point of vomiting thankfully, but just enough to keep ya feeling like food’s a challenge. I’ve also struggled with migraines a lot lately. So many people have told me that once you hit the second trimester it’s like a switch where you just feel way better. Well, I missed the switch, I think. But, I’m honestly okay with it. My miscarriage gave me such a humbled, grateful perspective, that I will take a full-blown migraine every day for the next five months if it will result n a healthy baby!

In the photo I’m not “showing” much…still wearing non-maternity pants, but a size larger than normal. However, it really varies a ton from day to day. Yesterday, I was way bigger and wouldn’t have even tried to fit into those pants. ;) I think it’s so weird to see the different sizes of my belly from day to day.

Next photo I post {20 weeks}, Eugene & I should know the gender. Whoop, whoop! I’m looking forward to finding out, but I’m not nearly as excited to know as I expected. I think it’s probably because I’m just so thankful that things are going well that I really don’t care which gender our baby is…just want another happy healthy baby shown in the ultrasound. Eugene feels the same way. He prefers a boy first, but just because he wants an older brother and then a younger sister – probably because he likes being an older brother to his two little sisters. It’s precious to hear him explain how he hopes our little girl has an older brother to watch out for him. He’s assured me he’s gonna be just as happy with a girl though. :)

So, what’s your guess? Will we have a baby boy baseball player, or a baby girl volleyball player?!

  1. I'm sure you are sick to death of advice, but I have to throw this one out there. I felt sick all nine months with both of my babies, and the one thing that really helped was dried apricots. I know it sounds nuts, but it's something about the B6 in them. A small handful and then I was able to actually eat a meal!

    And...I'm guessing girl. :-)

  2. Thanks, Heather! I'll give it a try for sure. :) The nauseousness really isn't bad...just a constant slight stomach ache. But thanks for the advise - I love hearing little tricks like that!
